Fluoride Treatments To Protect Your Teeth
Brushing your teeth twice a day, flossing daily, and visiting the dentist twice a year, is a great way to protect your teeth. But did you know that rinsing with fluoride can help prevent cavities and tooth decay and keep your teeth healthy and strong?
Coating your teeth with fluoride is an effective way to prevent tooth decay and cavities by stopping the plaque from building up and hardening on the tooth’s surface.
Fluoride Comes In Two Kinds Systemic and Topical:
- Systemic fluoride is ingested, usually through a public water supply. While teeth are forming under the gums, the fluoride strengthens tooth enamel, making it more durable and more resistant to cavities.
- Topical Fluoride can also be applied topically to help prevent caries (cavities) on teeth present in the mouth. It is delivered through toothpaste, mouthwash, and professional fluoride applications from your dentist.
Getting A Fluoride Treatment From Radiance Dental
A fluoride treatment takes just a few minutes in our office. After the procedure, we ask patients not to rinse, eat, or drink for at least 30 minutes to allow the teeth to absorb the fluoride and maximize its benefits. Depending on your oral health, we may recommend having a fluoride treatment every three, six, or twelve months.Call me at (360) 209-8849 to schedule your complimentary consultation and to learn more to learn more about our dental exams.
